it's not kirna, its the evil nontwin. To talk of the year, the long postponed, compose-window-opened-and-shut post.
It was the year of the saks fifth avenue, the long lahore trip, the new laptop, and the year of the break. When you fall in love, do you claw your way out? Not a clean break, the bandaid never got ripped off on one try. The sheer overwhelmingness. Wish it didn't overshadow.

The perfect red shoes, the attempted red hair, and the sexay red shirt. But the pink blog, which underwent makeovers till the pieces fit. It was the year of the strips. I haven't seen as many pictures on anyone else's computer. The year she made me fall in love with Punjab, not the province. Minigolf will always be sheesha, and we discovered the best lemonade in the world.

The year of the one down and many ups, the many attempted ups, the succesful ups and the ups of the transient highs fizzling out into lows. The year of the Arabic music, food, but not men. The cowboy and the crush and the many ways to have prettier feet conversations. And the year we somehow got inextricably linked in questionable fantasies in the minds of many boys. And the year we discovered how the letter h makes everything hahppier.

The year I met k's brother and her mom, and realised I felt as at home in her karachi apartment as I did back in a city where I could only pretend that I belong. The comfortable homemess, the room where you have to start running everytime your cell rings because of the signallessness, and the car that looks exactly like mine. The sudden throwing together of random people in seaview plans, and timing drives in terms of green gas blinks. The spontaneous renditions of You're So Vain and how it was cool, or attitude-like, or ironic, or sad. And the year of the one-hundred-and-twenty-thousand spy-tries of pink maria b saris, stealthy pictures in changing rooms.

Missed. So much. Missed out on not meeting her more, not having longer conversations, not being present when I was absent. You're a bigger part of my life than you think you are. lahv. muchmuch. and always.
