she's still standing.

He's standing alone on the dark, deserted road with rain drenching him and everything all around him. Heavy raindrops forming harsh ripples on the puddles formed in the slight bumps along the road. Far away, his car stands abandoned.. the windshields wipers swishing to and fro endlessly, dimmed behind the heavy rainfall. He's seemingly waiting for someone, impatiently - frustratingly running his fingers through his hair, walking back and forth the same four feet stretch as if to wear it down. He peers into the darkness and roughly makes out a figure emerging far, far behind the car. The figure comes closer and takes shape.. she's seemingly shivering from the cold rain, her hair's become all wavy from being wet and even though the wind's very heavy, her clothes are heavier still with water to be flying about.. her dupatta does sway every now and then however. She comes closer and closer, she walks towards him with a hesitant and shy smile..
"Hi," she says.
"Hello"
"I've waited for you for years"
He smiles a sad smile.
She gently holds his hands in hers, they feel so good after so long.. a little warmth in the cold rainy night. She draws him closer, puts his arms around her waist and hers around his neck.
"I never thought you'd stand here waiting for me," she whispers in his ear.
He pulls away with a frustrated and pained expression.
He looks into her eyes, "It's not you I was waiting for."
He peers over her shoulder and sees another figure emerging in the rainy night, he turns his gaze back at her, lowers his eyes and walks away without a word. She looks at him walking away.. scared, wide eyed, vulnerable again.. after all these years.
He runs over to the other one and they silently embrace like long lost lovers - they don't need words. She sees him pulling the door open for the other her, then going and sitting on the other side, in a minute the headlights flash on.. still dimmed behind the heavy rainfall.
She's still standing in the middle of the road hearing the engine roar to life,
she's still standing in the middle of the road as the car drives towards her,
she's still standing in the middle of the road as the car passes her by and water from the puddles flies on her.
She's still standing in the middle of the road.
He wasn't waiting for her.
She's standing in the middle of the road... still.
"Hi," she says.
