she's the drama queen.

going nowhere somehow
Monday, November 12, 2007

After graduating, your life somehow turns into a sequence of things known yet foreign. Things you see in movies, hear other people narrating, yet you never thought it would happen to you. When you pack up all your old books into cartons and put them away.. Books once so important, scribbled with notes in margins, higlighted and mutilated. When you go to Nando's for your lunch break and find yourself surrounded by suits and ties and company tags hanging from necks and you realize you are now a part of them. When you hang out with friends and discuss the upcoming bank acquisition, or which places are hiring currently, who is working where, what's going on in the corporate world. All of a sudden, those days of meaningless gossip and random laughter seem so, so far away. The bitching about course load, studying for upcoming hourlies/quizzes, moaning and groaning about difficult teachers has a way of disappearing into the distant past. This is the point you realize you grew up without having been prepared for it. You want nothing more than to go back to the comfort of those endless days spent giggling in the library or chatting away at the cafeteria or passing secret notes during classes.

Oddly, life comes without a rewind button.
